Bulford Juniors Football Club in Norway

The 23 Foundation and Bulford Juniors Football Club (from Merseyside) were invited to spend some time in Alesund Norway. This fantastic and hugely enjoyable/successful trip was organised by Sindre Johannessen (23 Foundation Ambassador for Norway). The Geiranger Fjord is home to some of the most spectacular scenery in the world, and has been listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The first picture includes the Bulford Juniors players and their parents, and other friends and supporters of the 23 Foundation. The impressive Bulford team (second picture), includes some of the players with coach Philly Carragher) won all their matches on this tour (and in some cases played teams with older players!). The third picture is of the Bulford boys at the Alesund stadium (a very impressive stadium with an all weather pitch).

Once again we would like to thank the Johannessen family for their time and great effort in arranging the tour, Tore and Hanne Hansen (Norway Liverpool FC Supporters' Club), Ragnhild Lund Ansnes (Journalist/Writer), as well and her family. Tage and Kamilla Herstad and their kids; Tia (this is Anfield) and William Shankly, Torgeir Rusten from Geiranger, all the local helpers, football clubs and sponsors who made this possible for their continued help and support of the 23 Foundation. As a charity, we recognize the huge importance of all Liverpool FC supporters in Norway (and in Scandinavia) and are extremely grateful for their efforts in helping us to raise funds.

SPIRIT & DREAMS for the Children

Spirit & Dreams for the Children

Spirit & Dreams is a French Association created in the Memory of SergeSaint-Jean. The aim of the Association is to help the children in Liverpool to realise their dreams of going to Anfield. It also tries to help them in their everyday life. Serge Saint-Jean, was a man aged 43 who used to support both FC Girondins de Bordeaux and Liverpool FC. He travelled all over Europe following the teams that he loved. On his way to the Hillsborough Memorial Service, on 15th April 2010 Serge passed away, the victim of a heart attack. To create Spirit & Dreams was from my point of view, the best way to remember every second of his generosity and kindness.

The Liverpool FC v Wigan game (on the 12th February 2011) was the opportunity for some children to realise their dreams. Thanks to the generosity of the donators and an LFC player, 8 children were chosen. They were accompanied by 3 adults. On the Friday I went to Rimrose Hope Primary School, in Seaforth, Liverpool and met Aaron, Callum, Jack, Lucas, Chris, Connor, Mark, and Declan (pictures attached). These where the 8 LFC fans who were going to attempt their very first game at Anfield. We talked about Serge, and also about the children's favourite players.

On the Saturday we met at the Shankly Statue, and as you can see on the picture, they were very happy. It was my birthday, and the smile on their faces was a perfect gift. Despite the unlucky result (LFC 1-1 Wigan) the kids enjoyed the match and were singing for their heroes at Anfield. That beautiful moment wouldn't have happened without the help of The 23 Foundation, Mike and Gayner Lepic, Philly and James Carragher, and David N'gog (whom Spirit & Dreams Association support and thank).

In Memory of Serge, may Spirit & Dreams make a lot of children happy.

Along with other very keen Reds in Japan, Keiko has sent get well soon wishes to Jamie Carragher following his injury at Tottenham. Keiko is in the middle of the picture holding the letters C and A.

A party of supporters from Japan is travelling over to Merseyside for the Wolves and Bolton games. We look forward to welcoming them and seeing them watch the reds play at Anfield (unfortunately without Jamie in the side).

BLUES LEFT TRAILING AS REDS ROMP HOME TO WIN FOR THE SECOND TIME

23 Foundation Charity Race

On a good morning for running the Reds and Blues went head to head once again in Walton Hall Park and with just 26 more Reds attending on the day it was evenly balanced but the Reds got off to a blistering start with Mancunian Chris Collins moving straight into the lead. Chris held on to the lead all the way around the course and he was hunted down by fellow Red and local runner Marc Jaques who finished in second place. In third place was the first Blue, Danny Kevan.

There was a really good atmosphere on the day with plenty of fund raising going on for the Everton Foundation and Jamie Carragher's 23 Foundation. The Army attended to lend their support to the Everton Foundation and did a roaring trade by feeding the spectators (and runners at the finish) with an amazing array of Army rations and a very nice steamed jam pudding and custard! A very big thank you to everyone who took part in the Big Heart 5K.

First 3 Reds - Chris Collins 16 mins 58 sec. Marc Jacques 17 mins 50 sec, Will Tansley 18 mins 58 sec.

First 3 Blues - Danny Kevan 18 mins 07 sec, Neil Toner 18 mins 30 sec, Dennis Wharton 19 mins 22 sec.

The Official Jamie Carragher Website Launched

The new official Jamie Carragher website has been launched and aims to provide fans with the latest Jamie Carragher news stories, an easy to use online store and information about the Jamie’s family orientated restaurants: Cafe Sports and Cafe Sports Express. However, Jamie Carragher’s true motivation behind his new website is not to sell himself, but to generate publicity for his charity the 23 Foundation. As a result all auction bids and every photograph sold in the gallery goes direct to the 23 Foundation. In addition there is a really quick and easy way to make donations direct to the 23 Foundation.

Please take some time to browse the official Jamie Carragher website and consider contributing towards the 23 Foundation and giving young people growing up in deprived areas of Liverpool an opportunity that they otherwise may not get, an opportunity to make something of their lives.

23 Foundation donation really do make all the difference

We are especially grateful for the recent donations that we have received from some famous names in football. Not only have we received donations from our home side but also there is international support for the efforts of the 23 Foundation.

Former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier has very generously donated £1,500 to the 23 Foundation, the proceeds from one of his recent Football after dinner speeches.

Would you like to follow Gerards example by donating just £10.00? Doesn't sound a lot does it? but if everybody who visited the official Jamie Carragher website was prepared to donate just £10.00, then not only would we achieve our target, but everyone who donated would be part of the effort to improve the lives of young people in deprived areas of Merseyside. Please don't just think about it, donate today and make a real difference.

A New Mini-bus for the Brunswick Boys' Club

Jamie Carragher through the 23 Foundation has contributed £8,000 towards the cost of a new 17 seater mini-bus for Brunswick Boys’ Club, known to the locals on Marsh Lane Bootle as 'the Brunny'.

Jamie Carragher, who grew up on Marsh Lane, Bootle, has developed a close relationship with the Brunny over the years and often pops in unannounced for a chat with the lads. In 2008, Jamie Carragher said the road was probably his second favourite place in the world, after Istanbul.

Jamie Carragher said: "It’s where it all started for me, the Brunny in Bootle. When I see that little road sign I get a real lift inside. There’s the boxing club, my junior school, the boys’ club. It’s very important to me."

Brunswick centre manager Keith Lloyd said: "The bus will make a valuable contribution to serving the local community and helping young people access opportunities."

Show your support to Jamie Carragher's 23 Foundation by donating just £10.00 today. Together we'll change hardship into opportunity.
