Over 35,000 supporters attended Jamie Carragher's testimonial on Saturday the 4th of September at Anfield. A team of past and present reds beat Everton 4-1 in the game to commemorate Jamie's Anfield career. Jamie was delighted with the turnout and issued a huge thank you to supporters in fulfilling his dream of raising £1m for charity. Jamie was extremely grateful to all supporters and to David Moyes and his Everton team for their help and contribution. Carragher said: "It's all going to benefit charities in Liverpool and things could not have worked out better. It wasn't about me." The gala dinner afterwards was also well attended with over 700 guests and was hosted by John Bishop, with Willie Miller providing his services for the auction element of the evening's proceedings. Gerard Houllier, Phil Thompson, Ronnie Moran, Chris Lawler and Sammy Lee were also present.
The Anfield crowd were delighted to see some past and present favourites such as Stephen Warnock, Steve Finnan, Jerzy Dudek, Danny Murphy, Michael Owen, Luis Garcia, Gary McAllister, Emile Heskey, Joe Cole and of course club captain Steven Gerrard. Gerrard said; "It was important for me to be involved because I am so close to Jamie, not just as a teammate but also as a friend. "I wanted to be there and share the occasion with him because we've played together for so long."
